Adult Ministry Groups
At Wesley, we believe that growth in faith happens best in community. Our Adult Ministry Groups provide opportunities to connect with others, grow into a greater understanding of scripture, and follow Jesus together.

Sunday morning classes

Friendship
This diverse group of all ages strongly supports mission projects.  It engages in Bible study and a wide variety of lively discussions.
Journeys in Faith
“A changing church for a changing world". This class explores Christian origins, the historical Jesus, early Christian documents (including the New Testament), and theological and social issues. Usually engaging in a series of short-term studies chosen by the participants, the class attracts people who are theologically and socially mainstream to progressive.
Pairs and Spares
This class focuses on how the Bible’s teachings apply to current issues. Informal lessons are led by class volunteers. Participants include couples, singles, and people whose spouses do not attend or who are members of other classes or churches.
Searchers
This class discusses Christian books from current authors as they use Biblical truths and apply them to everyday life. The class also studies individual books of the Bible by using the works of current authors and/or streaming media.  The group has mission projects and social gatherings. Class teaching is shared among class members.
Villages
The Villages Class meets in Room U12 by the Library. Our lessons are eclectic, covering a wide range of media presentations and close bible studies. In the last two years, we've explored Matt Rawle's advent series The Heart That Grew Three Sizes: The Grinch and The Redemption of Scrooge; Amy-Jill Levine's Witnesses at the Cross; Josh Scott's Context: Putting Scripture in Its Place; and James C. Howell's Everywhere is Jerusalem. We've also conducted close reading of scripture: Judges, Isaiah (as fifth gospel), Hebrews; and biblical figures Daniel and Joseph. For Lent 2026 we investigated the “Supporting Cast” of figures involved just before and during Holy Week. Currently, we will be discovering insights about Jesus's miracles, as presented in Amy-Jill Levine's book Signs and Wonders. We are a diverse group and welcome all who wish to dive into a wide-ranging approach to biblical people, places, and ideas.

Connection Groups

Coffee Fellowship
Every Sunday between services we have coffee and donut holes in the Atrium. It is a great way to meet people in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
Men's Coffee Group
We meet at 7AM every Friday at Hy-Vee for coffee, conversation, and Bible study.
Prayer Circle
Join us for a short, meaningful time of prayer every Wednesday at noon in the small chapel. This quiet gathering provides an opportunity to come together in faith, share prayer requests, and lift our hearts to God. All are welcome!
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry at Wesley United Methodist Church is a group of caring individuals who knit and crochet shawls, blankets, and other handmade items to provide comfort and warmth to those in need. Each piece is prayerfully created as a tangible expression of God’s love and presence, bringing hope and healing to recipients during times of illness, loss, or hardship. Whether you are an experienced crafter or a beginner looking to learn, new members are always welcome! Join us in sharing God’s love one stitch at a time.
United Women of Faith
United Women in Faith (UWF) is a sisterhood acting in faith to tackle the hard work of the world without hesitation. Driven by God’s love and united in friendship, we work to improve the lives of women, children and youth. Every day, we show up. We take action. We get it done. And we invite you to join us.
